Learn three ways to clean up your mesh after boolean operations.
If you use boolean modifier or other boolean tools, you deal with ngons and potentionally bad geometry. For example: When you boolean cut on the face, the face does not cut. When using Grid Modeler (or other blender’s tools), sometimes the resulting mesh is not correct and strange things happened. Download: rivets & bolts example *.blend (c.200 KB). With the general reoganistion introduced to Blender 2.8+ a number of the options formally available in the Tool Shelf have been moved to more context appropriate locations, included the Shading options, Smooth and Flat. I have tried the Boolean modifier but the handguard just disappears and doesn't make.
